I just had an online argument with a right wingnut guy who was citing Obama’s “lack of balls” for not resigning his senate seat to run for president. [The way Sarah Palin has, I guess?] I simply asked if he meant like McCain had resigned in his multiple runs? [‘Cuz, see… he DIDN’T!] He somehow took offense at that, and told me I seem confused. Then he called me a scmuck. I replied that schmuck is spelled with an “h”… he didn’t like that either! Go figure.

I’ve subsequently had another exchange with a fellow from Texas, who proceeded to call me names while questioning my morals and my brain power because I dared question Sarah Palin’s sense of duty to her office and those who elected her (to a four year term, btw.) I also suggested that she try to communicate a “coherent” message for a change. Apparently this makes me a godless heathen. Gotta love wingnuts who invariably espouse high moral integrity whilst spewing hatred and vulgar epithets. They just make it too easy sometimes.

Mark, I can’t say I’m with you on this, but whoever that guy was is really stretching to make some weak argument and being a total ass.

I have to admit though, if her leaving the last few months of her term to focus on a run on the Presidency is the best you have to downplay her, then you guys should be scared in 2012. If you’re not scared, this would be kind of not newsworthy..right? Just seems like a lot of people are on edge and they seem scared. I don’t understand the fear.

Mike, I really doubt that most non-Republicans are afraid of Palin entering the 2012 race. In fact, if anything I suspect that more Republicans are afraid. (Heck, it may be the best possible thing for non-Republicans!) I just thought the guy’s rationale about Obama not resigning was so bogus that I needed to call him out. I mean, seriously! Criticizing Obama for NOT resigning from his senate seat, and yet Obama’s opponent (and Palin’s running mate) has run multiple times as a senator and never resigned his seat? The whole thing is simply ludicrous.

Honestly, I don’t care if Palin runs or not, and I don’t care if my own dear Gov. Pawlenty runs. Let ‘em give it their best shot… just be ready to take as well as they give. That’s all I ask of anyone, be they Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Blue, Pink, Rainbow or made of cheese. That used to be what political discourse was about… now it’s all about “real-true American’s” and “God is on MY side, NOT yours!” If there’s an obvious flaw in someone’s logic, they should expect to be challenged, and be allowed to respond as they might. If their only response is “well, you’re just a commie-pinko-libtard-sissy-fag because you don’t support waterboarding of people who must be terrorists ‘cuz they don’t look like me, and you’re against automatic assault weapons for pre-schoolers”… inhale… well, then I may just have a follow-up challenge.

People might be surprised at my actual politics, but the nature of political discourse these days seems to be that if you’re not with me (and the 2% who think like me) than you’re agin me (as in, your one of the 98% who are trying to destroy the American way that lets me believe/pretend the world is still in the 1950’s.)

Palin, in my humble opinion, is her own worst enemy, and the more exposure she gets for herself, the more evident that will be to the world (outside of Alaska, that is.) Her biggest challenge will be to get more than a minority of her own party to support her.

Please, may the Republican’s keep her in the spotlight for the next 3 years!

OK, are we believing she really resigned to focus on a 2012 presidential race? Really? We’re believing that? Man, where was I when we had that vote? Palin/Bachmann 2012!!!!

Agreed… political discourse has gotten childish.

Besides, everybody who’s not an anti-American commie-fascist-anarchist-homersexyall knows that the Goddess is on MY side. (‘Cept when she’s not.)

@!Khala – Palin/Bachmann 2012! Now that’s a democratic dream ticket!

@!James – What about the anti-pre-school-assault-weapon libtards?

You know who I think should be the next Repub ticket? Palin and Anne Coulter or that super conservative chick from the view! “Hubba, hubba… NO THANK YOU!” :D

Anne Coulter… shiver. She makes me wish we had a dragon who demanded human sacrifice. We could feed her to it. Unfortunately, with my luck, she’d probably be the dragon.

I just don’t think Palin is going to run and if she does, maybe in 2016. My guess is you’ll see someone like Romney in 2012. I really really don’t think anyone’s beating Obama in ‘12, so let’s breathe nice deep slow breaths, calm down :P
